Let’s talk shoutouts…

One thing that I LOVE about the teaching community is the people! There are so many creative and collaborative individuals all over the world who inspire and share their own work so that others can learn to help their students too. One individual that I would like to point out is Sydney, who just so happens to be studying in one of my classes! Sydney’s Blog is so incredibly insightful, not only with educational practices, but also with her personal experiences. I feel like she really let’s us understand what goes through her brain when analyzing through writing! I think this snapshot is a great representation of herself and how she writes in her blog: Screenshot 2019-04-01 at 10.12.18 PM

One of my favorite posts to read of hers was the post about generating writing ideas using maps (I love maps too!). Her lesson was thorough and I could easily implement it into my classroom without much preparation. I think using drawing to get started is so beneficial in many ways and she really hit the nail on the head with her engaging lesson. Screenshot 2019-04-01 at 10.14.31 PM

What I also really enjoy is her authenticity; She isn’t afraid to say when she needs revising or knows her work is not necessarily complete. I think it is so important as teachers to be able to show our students that we do not know everything or are not perfect on the first few tries. It think by showing that we are always learning through the process too will allow us to connect with students on a deeper level and Sydney does a great job having a growth mindset as a lifelong learner: Screenshot 2019-04-01 at 10.17.15 PM

I really hope you give her blog a visit, I also really hope that she continues to use this outlet as she teaches so that I can follow her for inspiration and ideas!
